The new-town development around the Sanxia campus of Taipei University is thriving: dazzling residential towers line broad, tree-shaded streets. In particular, the pedestrian Art Boulevard—running about 1.2 km along the row of high-rises outside the university’s main gate on Xueqin Road—is a favorite afternoon stroll for locals. Created in partnership with the Yingge Ceramics Museum, the boulevard displays children’s mosaic murals every few steps, turning the entire walkway into an open-air gallery. Along the way lie Marine Park and a themed playground; when walkers tire, they can rest on a bench beneath the trees. Between the buildings, the pine-, bamboo-, and plum-named pedestrian arcades have become the most charming feature of the “Taipei University Special District.”
