苗栗縣南庄鄉文化路5號
Established on May 1st, 12 years before the founding of the Republic of China, the Nanzhuang Old Post Office boasts a simple and rustic architectural style. Along with the Old Residence of the Village Chief and Naimu Cape, it stands as one of the three major cultural assets from the Japanese colonial era in the township. The interior showcases the cultural characteristics and history of Nanzhuang, making it a must-visit attraction for tourists. The Saisiyat tribe, an indigenous people, have a rich cultural heritage. The story of "Post Office Brings You Good Blessings" tells the tale of the Saisiyat and the Taai people, who lived neighboring lives. The Taai people taught the Saisiyat people agricultural techniques, medical skills, and ceremonial dances. The Saisiyat people regarded the Taai as benefactors and would often invite them to join in their festivals and celebrations, drinking and merrymaking. However, the Taai people often took advantage of the Saisiyat women's hospitality, leading to a deep-seated resentment among the Saisiyat. Eventually, they devised a plan to take revenge, killing many Taai people. The surviving Taai, filled with anger and a desire for revenge, cursed the Saisiyat, stating that they would face consecutive years of disasters and poor harvests. And so, it came to pass. To this day, the Saisiyat people hold an annual "Spirit Festival" to appease the spirits of the Taai people, praying that they will no longer bring calamity upon the Saisiyat.
