Meng'ao Port serves as the gateway for maritime transportation in Dongju, and there is also a nearby helicopter landing area. It is only a 10-minute walk on foot from the bustling Dadeng Village. After its completion, the concentration of fish here has made the port one of the safest sea fishing spots in Dongju. In the local Matsu dialect, "Meng" means "fishing net." In the past, fishermen often repaired and dried their nets here, giving this place its name. Due to population outflow, only a few households currently reside here. Additionally, because of the location of Dongju Island at the mouth of the Minjiang River, the river sand carried by the Minjiang accumulates gradually at Meng'ao, forming an extensive, flat, high-quality sandy beach with fine white sand, which is an ideal summer destination for swimming and recreation. At Meng'ao Beach, glowing bioluminescent microorganisms often appear at night, allowing not only night swimming in the sea but also strolling on the luminous sand, making it an excellent option for night trips to Dongju. Near Meng'ao Port, a nearby gentle slope of marine terrace platform is the recently discovered Chipinglong archaeological site, where a large quantity of pottery fragments, shell mounds, and stone tool fragments were unearthed. The remains can be traced back to more than 6,000 years ago in the prehistoric era, serving as a record of ancient human life.
