Chiayi City, famous for its braised pork rice, has a new restaurant that breaks away from tradition. The establishment, which rents a plot of land and builds its own structure, preserves a spacious outdoor parking lot and designs a convenient take-out route, creating a unique "fast-food" style braised pork rice experience. The female owner, who had been living in Taichung for many years, returned to Chiayi during the pandemic and found it difficult to get a meal. She wondered why there weren't any restaurants where she could drive up, pick up her order, and leave. This discovery led her to open her own restaurant. She chose to sell braised pork rice because she wanted to recall her childhood memories. Her grandmother would often carry a large bamboo basket, delivering meals to her family members working in the fields. The aroma of rice and braised pork that wafted from the basket would evoke a sense of homesickness. Even the name "Lu Li" is derived from her grandmother's era, expressing gratitude. The simple braised pork rice requires careful selection of ingredients. Lu Li's braised pork rice uses rice from Taitung's Guanshan, Taiwanese temperate pork, and a braising sauce that replicates her grandmother's traditional flavor.
