Coal from each mine pit was hauled to the coal preparation plant by diesel locomotives. The coal-transport bridge was built for this purpose, originally a three-tier steel structure; in August 1965 it was rebuilt as a reinforced-concrete arch bridge and officially named “Rueisan Great Bridge.” The remains are still intact, letting visitors recall the bustling mining days. After July 2010 the bridge deck was restored for safer pedestrian passage; the original track gauge was re-laid and mine cars placed on it to evoke the old hauling scene. At night the bridge is floodlit, making it a favorite spot for nighttime photographers in Houtong.
