台中市沙鹿區中航路一段168號
To provide passengers with a better flying experience and strive towards world-class international airport standards, while also responding to the global emphasis on environmental protection, the new international terminal was officially opened on April 11, 2013. The terminal's design incorporates energy-saving and carbon-reducing green concepts, with a spatial structure that combines smooth traffic flow and space to create a compact, yet internationally scaled atmosphere. The terminal meets various indicators, including daily energy saving, carbon dioxide reduction, waste reduction, indoor environment, water resources, and sewage waste improvement, earning it a gold-level green building certification. The new international terminal has an annual passenger service capacity of 1.7 million, bringing the total annual service capacity to 2.9 million when combined with the existing terminal. The terminal's operational aircraft type has been upgraded from 4C (e.g., B737-800 with approximately 150 seats) to 4D (e.g., B757 with approximately 200 seats). To enhance public service quality and create a sustainable business niche, Taichung Airport undertook the construction of the international terminal and, during the process, delegated non-public authority commercial and public service facilities to private institutions through the "Promoting Private Participation in Public Infrastructure" act. This move combined Chinese and foreign cultural characteristics, providing various duty-free shops, restaurants, beauty and convenience stores, local cultural and artistic exhibitions, 3C stores, audio-visual and bookstores, as well as passenger consultation services, roaming customer service personnel, scenic relaxation areas, internet services, children's play areas, shopping carts, plant walls, cultural art corridors, stress-relieving massage chairs, and baby strollers. These additions aim to drive Taiwan's industrial and tourism development, creating social and economic benefits. The Taichung International Airport's market catchment area includes not only Taichung, Nantou, and Changhua but also extends to Miaoli to the north and Yunlin to the south, covering a population of 6 million. To meet the growing demand for air travel in the central region, several airlines have established routes at the airport. For the latest information on airlines, routes, and schedules, please visit the airport's official website. On February 5, 2015, Taichung International Airport began providing international air cargo services, with an initial annual cargo handling capacity of approximately 8,600 tons. This development allows cargo owners in the central region to conveniently handle import and export business nearby, leveraging the airport's cargo and passenger service capabilities. The airport aims to provide comprehensive and perfect services, striving towards the goal of "passenger and cargo transport, side by side," while maintaining its operational philosophy of "flight safety, complete facilities, and satisfactory service" to serve as a critical gateway for the socio-economic development of the central region.
