Tu Kou Creek flows through Maolin. Besides the scenic mountainous highlands, it creates unique landforms and geology such as waterfalls, gorges, and abundant biodiversity. Longtoushan and Sheitoushan belong to the circular flow terrace formations. Sheitoushan differs from Longtoushan in its formation. It originated from accumulations of soil and rock from landslide-prone areas, connecting with the hills behind it to create today's distinct terrain resembling a hundred-step snake’s head. This formation complements Longtoushan symmetrically. The current state of Longtoushan being separated from its dragon spine is attributed to intentional explosives detonated during the Japanese colonial period to redirect water flows, facilitating local transportation. This natural wonder resembling a giant dragon spitting out pearls arises from meandering rivers and circular flow terraces. Seen from above, it appears as a colossal dragon coiled through the valley, an impressive spectacle. Longtoushan, Sheitoushan, and Guixingshan together are famed as Maolin’s three iconic mountains.
