Hsing Tian Gong is the temple with the most visitors in northern Taiwan, with daily foot traffic reaching up to ten thousand people.
Hsing Tian Gong enshrines the Southern Heaven's Master of the Imperial Examination, Guan Enzhu, as its main deity, and also enshrines the Southern Palace's Master of the Imperial Examination, Lü Dongbin, as well as Zhang Enzhu, the Nine Heavens' Master of the Life and Death, Wang Enzhu, the Supreme Sage of the Original Heaven, Yue Fei, the Heroic General, Guan Taiye, the Prince of Guan, and Zhou Cang, the Master, along with the sages and Buddhas of the three religions of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
Since its completion, Hsing Tian Gong has become the temple with the most visitors in the greater Taipei area, and even throughout northern Taiwan. In addition to the widespread acceptance of its faith among the people, there are also some unique characteristics, including no offering boxes, no animal sacrifices, no burning of paper money, no acceptance of gold medals, no opera performances for the deities, no divination or spirit medium activities, no external fundraising, and no commercial activities. The temple is located in the city center and has a spacious courtyard. It was also the first to establish a religious foundation, thereby establishing its nature as a public welfare organization.
In addition to its religious activities, including the main temple in Taipei and two branches in Sanchu and Beitou, Hsing Tian Gong also established the "Hsing Tian Gong Cultural and Educational Development Promotion Foundation" in 1995. It also has two affiliated libraries (located in the center of Taipei and Beitou) and the Enzhugong Hospital in Sanchu. Its public welfare nature is evident, allowing religion not only to comfort the hearts of the people, but also to genuinely assist in the daily lives of the people.
