Melu Red Tea, located in Hualien, was established thirty years ago. The shop is situated next to the Melun Market and is one of the long-standing, quietly operated local stores. In its early years, the building also operated as a general merchandise store, earning it the nickname "Red Tea Department Store" among old-time Hualien residents.
After being taken over by the second-generation owner, the shop continued to uphold its good reputation while renovating into the spacious storefront it is today.
Melu Red Tea's greatest feature lies in its traditional brewing method: using full tea leaves to extract and brew a special red tea from Nantou's Yuichi Township. After being blended with the owner's proprietary recipe, the tea achieves a sweet yet not greasy or bitter taste with a rich, fragrant flavor. This unique taste has captivated many people, leaving them with an unforgettable experience.
The shop's menu primarily features traditional breakfast items, such as egg pancakes, peanut soup, and almond tea, all of which are well-loved by customers.
