Shagua Ancient Houses are located in the northwest of Lukai Township, divided into four communities (including Shangshe, Xiase, Tudi Gong, and Shuiku). Farmlands are mainly concentrated in the southeast part of the village. The east, north, and northwest sides are bordering the sea, where the extensive intertidal zones form an ideal space for villagers' maritime activities. Excluding the Malu City District, Shagua within the Pescadores Islands has the most distinctive characteristics among the three major islands. Administratively, this village combines three settlements: Shagua (including Shangshe and Xiase, with Shangshe also known as Shagua Tu), Tudi Gong Qian, and Shuiku. What truly distinguishes the area is the densely distributed loddon stone houses and numerous ancestral halls. It is also the only village in Lukai Township without a sub-district organizational structure. The ancient architecture in Shagua Settlement is notable, especially House No. 56, Chen's Residence in Shagua Village. This structure with four projecting bayheads (Yaju Tou) represents traditional Pescadores combined courtyard architecture and is primarily constructed from loddon stone. Its main entrance features the relatively unique "Three-Immortal Style" pagoda, a characteristic often associated with official residences. Adjacent Nos. 54 and 55 houses, although modified in architectural form, still connect seamlessly with No. 56 residence, suggesting the area's original grand scale. Geographically positioned at the intersection of Lukai Township's Dingwan Village and Shizhong Village, Shagua borders Dingwan Village to the southwest, Dongshi Village to the south, and faces the ocean on both east and north sides. These coastal vistas overlook Xixi Village, Hongluo Village to the south, and Yuanbei Village in Beisha Township further north. [Recommended Visit Time] 1 hour
