“Bihua Temple” is located in the Dongqu Fenziwei area of Sanchong District. It was founded in 1911 and rebuilt to its present scale in 1973. The three-story structure is modeled on northern-style Buddhist architecture; stone lions stand guard at the gate, carved stone pillars lie beneath the main-hall staircase, and both side staircases are flanked by carved stone panels. Drum stones and door-pivot stones flank each entrance. Once a Buddhist temple enshrining Śākyamuni, Bihua Temple has evolved into a folk-faith shrine that blends Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist traditions. The deities it houses are unusually iconographic, differing from those in ordinary temples—well worth a visit for worship or sightseeing.
