Marwen Food, which originated from the First Market in Taichung City, has been a local Taichung brand for nearly 70 years, passing through three generations. It is now a representative gift item in Taichung. With more than half a century of craft inheritance, Marwen carefully selects large white-fluke fish and only uses parts fit for sashimi. These are stir‑fried with a proprietary homemade pork fat, keeping the ingredients natural and simple. Its unique process creates the renowned golden‑crisp fluke fish flakes that are famous locally and beyond.
The classic product is re‑created, bringing back the splendor of the old brand. In addition to its loyal long‑time customers, Marwen has boosted brand recognition and goodwill, expanding its consumer market. With government support, the goal is to attract young and metropolitan consumers, broaden the reach of this local brand to the international stage, and let more people discover the high‑quality fluke fish flakes and Marwen.
In recent years, a tourism factory was also established and officially opened on January 1, 2021, as an expansion of the original Dali factory. Its fish‑ball DIY workshop is especially popular with young parents. In a brief 20‑minute tour, visitors learn the production process of fluke fish flakes and fish balls from the guide. The next activity is the fish‑ball DIY, where a professional chef personally leads children to make their very first fish ball. During the process, the chef demonstrates the proper squeezing gesture, which helps the fish ball maintain a certain elasticity so it can be enjoyed with a “chewy” texture. Naturally, the participants can also exercise creativity, making various shapes of fish balls, and sharing their creative creations with each other, leaving fond and joyful memories.
