新北市淡水區大埤頭3號
Below the Daan Dapu Mountain in Tamsui lies a historic house, culinary delight, and fragrant coffee—a gastronomic haven where poets gather. This is the ancestral courtyard of the renowned poet Li Kuixian, a third‑generation figure, known locally as “Shiqiang Zai Nei.” In 1871, ancestor Li Shanshi established this courtyard when he cultivated land in Tamsui and Sanzhi. To address security concerns, he constructed defensive walls to fend off bandits and safeguard residents and livestock, features that remain preserved today. After renovations, the stone‑roofed dwelling stands, and the locals refer to the Li family home as Shiqiang Zai Nei. With over a century of history, the expansive 4,000‑plus ping (approximately 13,200 square meters) courtyard boasts 23 century‑old trees. It’s a place to relax, savor food, and sip coffee—a genuinely uplifting pleasure. The hometown specialties at Shiqiang Zai Nei are revered by seasoned diners for their authentic flavors. The simple, unadorned “white‑cut” whole chicken showcases the natural sweetness of the meat. Lightly sautéed cabbage and asparagus with shrimp, alongside a harmonious blend of healthy, balanced flavors, bring the body into sync with nature. The meals echo slow‑food joy, with dishes that feel close to the outdoors. Don’t miss the nostalgic fried rice noodles and lotus leaf tofu—tender, fragrant noodles that reflect a grandmother’s skilled craftsmanship, leaving the palate utterly satisfied.
