Starlight Bridge spans the Keelung River, measuring 270 meters in length and situated 800 meters downstream of Xizhi’s Chang’an Bridge. It is the first scenic bridge to cross the Keelung River, directly adjacent to Wudu Railway Station. Designed exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, the bridge features a single-tower cable-stayed structure. Its 75-meter tower is deliberately inclined, changing color every two seconds. The main pylon resembles a giant microphone pointing skyward. Both the white tower and deck are studded with point-source lights that glitter like stars at night, giving the bridge its name. Asymmetrical steel cables fan out on either side, another signature element. The S-shaped deck breaks away from the rigid rectangles of conventional bridges; the tilted tower and dotted lighting evoke a canopy of stars, symbolizing boundless hope for Xizhi’s future. The sweeping curve also creates generous space for strolling and resting. Under sunlight the Keelung River appears crystal-clear and calm; white clouds, the bridge itself, the Zhongshan Elevated Highway passing overhead, and even unhurried egrets in the riverside grass are all mirrored in the water, forming a singular vista. Flanked by picturesque riverside bike paths and lush green slopes, the bridge is further enhanced by the neighboring Jiangchang Pumping Station, now reborn as a cyclist rest stop and environmental-education center. Facilities include bicycle inflation and repair stations, while the exhibition area will host rotating cultural and artistic displays. This forward-thinking reuse transforms a once single-purpose flood-control facility into a versatile community asset.
