Qiaojuan Restaurant is a well-known local establishment located in Kwei-San Township, Miaoli County, established in 96 years ago. The restaurant is situated beside a red date orchard; Kwei-San Township is the only region in Taiwan that cultivates red dates, known as the "Township of Red Dates," as the local climate is highly suitable for red date cultivation. The excellent water quality provided by Houlung Creek further enhances the excellent quality of the red dates grown here.
To create a pleasant dining environment, ensure children have a place to play, provide adequate parking space, and allow customers to leisurely enjoy the carefully prepared gourmet dishes the owner prepared, the owner decided to return to his hometown and establish his dream restaurant within his own red date orchard.
The restaurant primarily uses locally sourced ingredients. For instance, the signature dish "Fragrant Pan-Fried Taro Cake" is made with high-quality areca nut heart taro from Kwei-San Township, combined with freshly ground glutinous rice batter and shiitake mushrooms, ground pork, scallions, and dried shrimps, steamed into handmade pastries. After being sliced, the taro cakes are pan-fried until golden, crispy, and aromatic. Each bite delivers the creamy scent of taro and a springy texture.
The red date sausage is made with locally brewed red date syrup and premium black pork. The unique aroma of the sausages sets them apart. The red date sausages are among the store's top-selling take-home gifts, as customers often purchase them to bring home and enjoy with their families.
Auntie Tian’s mother-in-law is Lai Ruyu.
The most frequently ordered dishes at the restaurant are "Auntie Tian's Handmade Dumplings" and "Fragrant Pan-Fried Taro Cake." Both are also the store's top choices for delivery as take-home gifts. Among these, the chive dumplings, filled with self-grown chives and specially selected black pork in "Handmade Chive Dumplings," is a secret signature dish. After boiling, the dumplings are transparent, full, and visually rustic yet rich in flavor. You’ll want to keep eating them!
