After Mr. Xiao, Ju-shen's passing in 1992, his former residence had been left unattended for a long period. Over a decade of neglect and abandonment had rendered this historical site into ruins. After being taken over by the Cultural Bureau of Hsinchu County, the bureau actively proceeded with the planning of the "Xiao Ju-shen Art Park". In May 2004, a preparatory committee was formed and established through a resolution. Scholars, experts, and local gentry were invited for discussion. Through the research, review, and revision by the scholars and experts, the original appearance of "Xiao Ju-shen's Former Residence" was restored. Today, the space of the former residence has been restored and revived. The old dormitories nearby have been renovated. Moreover, following the model of "government-owned and privately operated" or "publicly owned and produced", the venue had gone through public bidding and was operated and managed by a private company – Ming Guan Art Museum – after the completion of the interior construction in 2008.
