The island covers an area of approximately 13.7824 square kilometers. According to the Penghu County Civil Affairs Bureau’s August 2008 statistical data, the population of Wang’an Island is 1,561. The island’s terrain is relatively flat, with many curved coastlines, and the surrounding waters are mostly reefs. Wang’an Island’s geographic coordinates are roughly between 119°18′–59″ east longitude and 23°12′–23″ north latitude, and there are 40 small islands and reef pools nearby. Wang’an Island’s original name was “Bázhào.” It lies in the southern waters of Magong, between Penghu’s main island and Qimei Island. The distance from Magong’s main island is about 18 nautical miles, and from Qimei Island about 11 nautical miles. A 90‑minute ferry ride can reach the island. The island’s terrain is lower in the south and higher in the north, with well-developed coastal erosion platforms around it. Tanmen Port serves as Wang’an’s gateway, offering dining, a tourist service center, bus and motorcycle rentals, and ferries to Jinguang Island. Tourist attractions on the island include Yanyang Cave, Huazhai, Tian Tai Mountain, and others. Huazhai Village, now renamed Zhongshe Village, is the largest ancient house cluster in Penghu, with a 300‑year history, making it a must‑visit site on Wang’an Island.
