Aodi Fishing Harbor is located in Zhenli Village, Gongliao District, New Taipei City. A small shelter was built here during the Japanese colonial period. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Aodi forms a natural bay; the seabed is mostly rock, so drifting sand is seldom a problem. These excellent harbor-building conditions allow both local and visiting vessels to moor here during fishing seasons or typhoons. In recent years, aligned with tourism policies, the harbor has developed recreational fisheries that have spurred growth throughout the Aodi area, making it one of the key fishing ports along the Northeast Coast Highway. Thanks to its favorable geography, Aodi is rich in fishery resources and yields seaweeds such as agar, laver, and kelp, turning the port into the main seafood distribution center for the northeast coast. In less than a kilometer, Seafood Street is lined with over a dozen large and small seafood restaurants offering fresh, reasonably priced catch. Principal species include swordfish, red amberjack, small squid, cuttlefish, lobster, and grouper, so seafood eateries cluster around the harbor. The port has also added a fish market, refrigeration plant, fuel station, and ship-repair yard, providing complete facilities so that visitors can fully experience the local fishing-port culture, making Aodi Fishing Harbor the northeast coast’s primary seafood hub.
