The Gongguan Waterfront Plaza is a recreational area near the Xindian River in Taipei. It is also the origin of Taipei's water source and the only scenic spot in the city without a dike. The plaza provides citizens with a place to rest and enjoy the riverside scenery. It is one of the few recreational areas in the city that is fully utilized 24 hours a day.
In the morning, citizens come here to exercise, do tai chi, run, and ride bicycles. There is also a bicycle rental station, allowing visitors to enjoy riding bicycles along the riverside road. In the evening, there is an international food street and stylish bars. Every Friday evening, there are free live band performances.
On the south side of the plaza, there is the PIPE Live Music, which was transformed from the municipally designated historic site "Hunshui Pumping Station". After ten years of planning and operation, it has become one of the few successful cases in the world where a pumping station has been reused as a music performance space.
The plaza regularly hosts markets on weekends, featuring young people's cultural and creative products and handicrafts, along with live DJ performances.
