Mount Gari has the reputation as the “Taiwanese Mt. Fuji”. The trail is about 5,800 meters long. The first half of the trail is not very steep. There is a unique “water pipeline path”, remnants of a small railway used for logging, and the Feng-mei Stream with crystal clear water, making the scenery very special. The second half is the most challenging part. The trail is covered with boulders, and there are many large, gnarled tree roots on the uphill section. Once you stand on the summit, watching the mist floating in the distance and the beautiful mountain views, the hardship of the journey becomes nothing. Trail length (m): 5,800 Walking time (minutes): 1 day Main stops along the way: The Gari Mountain trail connects Nan-zhuang, Peng-lai, Feng-mei and Lu-chang. Along the trail, you can see the logging-era rail tracks, witnessing the once-thriving forestry industry. On the summit, there is a first-class triangulation point with broad vision, where you can have a distant view of the magnificent Xue-shan Main Ridge and neighboring Lu-chang Ta-shan.
