On the western shore of Bitan lies Hemei Mountain. From its slopes you can look across at the eastern shore of Bitan and the Bitan Suspension Bridge, and in the distance see Nangang Mountain and Taipei 101. Turning around, you can gaze back at Qingtan, Xinwu Road, and Wantan along the Beiyi Road in Xindian. The intact forest and rich ecology attract insects, animals, and birds, forming a natural ecological playground for visitors to hike and observe wildlife. The Hemei Mountain Nature Trail is a hiking path suitable for all ages: short in length and gentle in gradient. It splits into a water-loving Blue Trail and a mountain-loving Green Trail. Along the way nearly 200 species of native butterfly-hosting plants thrive. The first section is a flat slope; afterward you can continue straight and climb the stairs to the summit of Hemei Mountain. The view from the top is superb, offering a bird’s-eye view of the entire Taipei Basin with 101 clearly visible. Benches line the route for resting, and portable toilets are provided at designated spots, making it an easy trail ideal for families and wheelchair users.
