Fields, ancient trees, and country lanes—does Taoyuan also have Boran Avenue? Want to stroll through a perfect sea of flowers? You don’t have to go only to Dasi! Fongshukeng (also known as Maple Tree Village), located within three valleys, derives its name from the maple trees planted there in the past. Though the maple grove scene no longer exists, one can still enjoy swaying green rice waves, the white sea of mugunghwa grass in autumn, fluttering camphor blossoms in May, or the vibrant sunflower bloom that announces a summer in different seasons. A leisurely walk or bike ride offers its own charm. From 290 Lane off Guangming Street, turn left and walk straight about 160 meters to reach the blossom-viewing route—intersection of Zhongkeng Line and Fongweikeng Line. The Zhongkeng Line extends to the Fengshui Temple before Zhongkeng Bridge No. 5, covering approximately 4 km with a slightly steeper gradient than the Fongweikeng Line. Along the way, besides a few small factories, fields of farmland stretch out, offering Fongshukeng’s unique country charm. The breeze murmurs with the ripening crops; the air carries the scent of fire dragon fruit; egrets glide gracefully, while chirps and songs form an impromptu rural folk melody. After harvesting in November, farmers plant cosmos, sunflowers, and zinnias; farmland transforms into a flower field, with vibrant colors always drawing visitors to pause and admire. The other route, the Fongweikeng Line, spans about 5 km. Along the winding path, a majestic over-hundred-year-old maple tree stands erect as the most famous landmark of Maple Tree Village. Many specially come to this "Boran Avenue of the North" to take shelter under it, sipping tea and admiring the endless ocean of blue sky and green farmland. Being present in the moment is the only task required. The farmland area under the Fongweikeng Line is even larger than that of the Zhongkeng Line. Terraced fields sometimes appear along the route, elevated by the terrain beyond the roads. During farming off-seasons, the same cosmos and ever-lasting flowers bloom, while valleys afar show the summer camphor blossoms and autumn white mugunghwa vying for splendor, composing a multi-colored scenery.
