The Zhaishan Rock site has an archaeological excavation pit dating back approximately 2,500 years, yielding numerous significant treasures and rich archaeological resources. Over 6,000 years, the site has revealed seven distinct cultural layers, making it a living archaeological classroom. In 1896, the site was the location of the "Zhaishan Rock Incident," where anti-Japanese militia attacked a Japanese teacher. After Taiwan's recovery, the site served as a military stronghold for the Intelligence Bureau. In recent years, under the Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau's planning, the site's former ammunition depot has been transformed into an exhibition hall. Visitors can explore not only the natural trails of Zhaishan but also learn about the area's cultural and historical background. The Zhaishan Rock Exhibition Hall seamlessly integrates the natural ecology and geological landscape of Zhaishan. The first floor features a physical exhibition room, including: - A stratum model, allowing visitors to clearly observe the texture and changes of each layer. - A panoramic model providing a bird's-eye view of the entire Zhaishan Rock. - A pottery restoration model showcasing the evolution of pottery from coarse to fine. The first floor also features numerous explanatory boards, such as the Prehistoric Archaeology Corridor, which introduces the process and discoveries of archaeology, ecological and geological explanations, and biological interpretations. These resources enable the public to understand the story of Zhaishan. The second floor combines multimedia facilities, including a DIY classroom and a creative drawing area where visitors can unleash their imagination. The floor also features a screening room for regular ecological film screenings and an observation window. Additionally, there is a small news anchor experience studio where children can enjoy the experience of broadcasting news. The establishment of the exhibition hall is the first step in preserving the culture of Zhaishan Rock. However, the most significant value of the exhibition hall lies in raising awareness and fostering affection for this land among visitors during their tours.
