Established in 1964, the Taipei City Social Education Hall is a familiar space for arts and culture, with the primary goal of promoting artistic and cultural activities. The open areas, including the 1st-floor lobby and three exhibition halls, feature static exhibitions. The hall also occasionally hosts various music, dance, and theater performances on its city stage and art plaza. After the hall's renovation was completed in 2003, the performance department was renamed "City Stage" and re-launched as a more professional and modern comprehensive theater, making it a more modern urban activity space. In addition to the main building on Bade Road, the department also established the Yanping Activity Center in Datong District, the Wenshan Branch in Wenshan District, and the Parent-Child Plaza in the City Hall building. These additions not only alleviated the limitations on the number of users at the main venue but also allowed more citizens to conveniently participate in social education activities. In 2014, in accordance with the revised organizational regulations of the Cultural Bureau, the hall was renamed the "Taipei City Arts Promotion Office," which was officially inaugurated on November 6, 2015.
