Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Factory was founded in 1946, initially producing traditional Chinese medicine powders, pills, and ointments. Later, it began to invest in the production of modern Chinese medicine concentrated preparations, pioneering the development of concentrated Chinese medicine (scientific Chinese medicine) in Taiwan. In 1966, it started mass-producing high-quality concentrated Chinese medicine at its Zhonghe factory site. In 1976, it introduced the concept of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and in 1986, it became the first pharmaceutical factory in Taiwan to pass the GMP software evaluation for traditional Chinese medicine. In 2000, it invested NT$3 billion in establishing the Zhongli Herbal Medicine Production, Research, and Education Park. With a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and rigorous quality control requirements, Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Factory continuously innovates and produces various types of products that are widely recognized by the medical community and sold worldwide. In 2018, it passed the strict PIC/S GMP inspection and certification by the Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA). In 2020, to promote a better understanding of Chinese medicine, Sheng Chang established the Sheng Chang Herbal Medicine Exploration Museum, which showcases the cultural knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to the public. The museum is divided into five sections: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, featuring over 100 types of herbal medicine. Through interactive multimedia and hands-on games, the museum aims to spark people's interest and create a lively and engaging experience. The museum offers a five-sensory exploration: listening to the fascinating world of herbal medicine, smelling the aromas, touching the textures, tasting the pure and healthy flavors, and observing the patterns and appearances of the herbal medicine. The museum aims to inspire a new attitude towards life, increasing sensitivity and understanding of oneself and the world. By exploring the philosophy of herbal medicine, visitors can experience a diverse and vibrant life, promoting health, happiness, and a more fulfilling life. Having passed over 60 years, Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Factory continues to innovate and carry on the spirit of Sun Si-miao, a legendary Chinese physician, to benefit humanity.
