The development of the doll culture industry in Taishan is closely related to the history of Taishan's industry and life in the 1950s. In 1967, the Mei Ning factory, which produced Barbie dolls, was established in Taishan, and the impression that "Taishan equals doll manufacturing" was established. Mei Ning dolls accompanied Taishan through its history, and during the era of Taiwanese contract manufacturing, the globally renowned toy giant Mattel set up a factory in Taishan. Barbie dolls were produced from materials to packaging and export, all completed in Taishan, until 1987. Later, in 2004, the Taishan Doll Industry Cultural Museum was established, showcasing the history of Mei Ning factory and the changes in Taishan's industry, as well as displaying Barbie dolls and related artifacts. The museum also features representative dolls from various countries, including Europe, America, Japan, and Russia. Each doll's clothing design combines traditional folk dress characteristics with innovative and popular elements, making it worth a visit.
