Located in the Xinzhuang District of New Taipei City, the Xinzhuang Wusheng Temple is listed as a cultural asset of New Taipei City. The Xinzhuang Wusheng Temple, along with the Ciyou Temple and the Guangfu Temple, is one of the three major temples in Xinzhuang. It was established in the 25th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty (1760 CE) when Hu Zongyou, a scholar from Tingzhou, donated land in Xinzhuang Rice Market Street. According to Lian Heng's (1878-1936) *General History of Taiwan*, "The Xinzhuang Wusheng Temple was built in 1760 CE during the Qianlong reign by Hu Zongyou, a scholar, in Xingzhou Fort, Xinzhuang, to honor Han Shouting Marquis Guan Yu." This indicates that the Xinzhuang Wusheng Temple was built earlier than the Hsinchu Guan Temple, making it the earliest "Guan Temple" in northern Taiwan. Locals refer to it as the "Guan Sheng Temple." The main gate of the Wusheng Temple is usually closed, only opening from the 1st to the 3rd day of the lunar year, the 11th to the 15th day of the first lunar month, and the 20th to the 24th day of the sixth lunar month. Every year around the Lantern Festival, a "firecracker-throwing platform" event is held in front of the temple to symbolize peace and prosperity. The most distinct architectural feature of the Wusheng Temple compared to other temples is that the main gate does not feature paintings of door gods. This is because Guan Shengdi (Guan Yu) himself was a martial arts expert, so door gods are not needed to protect the temple. However, the gate is adorned with 108 door nails. Originally, these nails served to cover the nail heads on the door panels, but they are now primarily decorative. The number 108, being a multiple of nine, is considered the largest auspicious number, and this design follows traditional door-making practices.
