The Origin of the Name The name "Hsueh Hsueh" comes from the ancient Eastern, simple, and humane ideas. The name is derived from the "Xue Ji" chapter in the Book of Rites: "Even if there is delicious food, if one doesn't taste it, one doesn't know its flavor; even if there is a supreme truth, if one doesn't learn it, one doesn't know its goodness. Therefore, learning is necessary to realize one's own insufficiency, and teaching is necessary to realize one's own difficulties; realizing one's own insufficiency enables one to reflect on oneself, and realizing one's own difficulties enables one to strive for self-improvement. Therefore, it is said that teaching and learning promote each other." The phrase "Hsueh Hsueh" implies that "teaching and learning each account for half of the learning process." Hsueh Hsueh's expectation is that every student in a classroom may be a teacher in another classroom, and every teacher in a classroom may be a student in another classroom.
