新北市石門區尖山湖紀念碑
The Jianshan Lake Memorial Monument is located at Shimen Cave in Shimen District. It is about one kilometer away from the famous Qingshan Waterfall. During the Japanese colonial period, in the 12th year of Showa (1937), a Japanese Navy aviation team went to China for combat and passed through the sky above Jianshan Lake in Shimen District, Taiwan. Due to bad weather, one of the fighter planes unfortunately crashed, and all 7 officers on board were killed. To commemorate these warriors, the Japanese authorities erected a monument at the crash site of Jianshan Lake to commemorate them. A 12-meter-high stone monument for "The Place of Naval Officers' Death" was erected, and a Shinto shrine was built for commemoration. The surrounding area was planted with several cherry blossom trees, and multiple small stone lantern pillars were set up. Currently, there is a well-planned hiking trail. On weekends and holidays, many people come here to hike and enjoy the scenic views of the outer sea in Shimen District. The entrance to the trail features a large stone monument. Following the red brick path, there are dense mountain cherry blossom trees on both sides. Jianshan Lake does not actually refer to a lake but a low-lying valley or basin. The trail passes through the Xiaokeng Creek valley of Jianshan Lake, which is the source of the "Jianshan Lake Three Canals" water圳. There is also a water bridge for water transportation. The clear creek's gentle flow creates a pleasant sound. The endpoint is the "Jianshan Lake Memorial Monument," which quietly stands in the mountains. The observation platform in front of the monument offers a view of the mountain ridges on North Highway 19, terraced fields, and the outer sea of Shimen, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquility of nature.
