The She Tou Yue Mei Liou family traces its ancestral origins to Nanjing County, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. The 11th-generation ancestor Tianji Gong crossed the sea to Taiwan during the mid-Kangxi era, first arriving in Chiayi Damiao (modern-day Minsheng County). It was not until the 12th-generation ancestor Yichou Gong that the family relocated to settle in the present-day She Tou Yue Mei Chi village.
