With a history of nearly a hundred years, this old shop can be considered a representative of Hsinchu's meatballs. Located beside the entrance of the City God Temple, the white wall next to the seats has many signatures and messages from famous artists, written in large red characters "Lin's Meatballs". Lin's Meatballs, which has been operating in the Hsinchu City God Temple food stalls for decades, is currently run by the fourth generation. Although the brothers have their own stalls and operate independently, the recipes they use are all traditional methods passed down from their ancestors. The signature dish is made by marinating lean meat in red yeast rice for half a day to a whole day, then using sweet potato flour and tapioca flour for the outer layer, steaming it, and finally frying it, resulting in a fragrant and chewy texture. The red appearance is different from the meatballs found in Changhua and other areas. In addition to the traditional scallion and meat flavor, they now offer bamboo shoot and chestnut flavors, providing a variety of options and becoming a specialty of the City God Temple food stalls. Apart from the meatballs, the accompanying soups include Four Gods Soup and Hsinchu's famous Wanluan Soup. The Four Gods Soup is slow-cooked to perfection, making it a perfect match for the meatballs. On holidays, a single stall can sell 2,000 to 3,000 meatballs; on regular days, many people purchase meatballs from them for resale. The authentic flavor of Lin's Meatballs has attracted many famous food programs and magazines to interview and report on them. By following tradition while innovating at the right time, they have managed to stand out among the many food stalls in the City God Temple.
