The Nanzi community was originally a transfer station built by the Taiwan Sugar Corporation for hauling sugarcane and passengers; it was—and still is—centered on sugar and farming. In 2013, brothers Liao Yao-xing and Liao Hui-cun, both artists, transformed the rural landscape and railway culture of the area into vivid 3-D murals, breathing life and color into the neighborhood.
