Changhua County is home to the most complete preservation of both southern and northern traditional music and opera in the country. Centuries-old institutions such as Pei-tuan Li Ch'un Yuan (Northern Music Li Ch'un Yuan), Ji Le Xuan (Ji Le Xuan), Nan-tuan Ya Zheng Zhai (Southern Music Ya Zheng Zhai), Ju Ying She (Ju Ying She), and E Yun Zhai (E Yun Zhai) have managed to survive the tides of modernization, a truly precious achievement. In recent years, Changhua County Cultural Bureau has dedicated efforts to teaching and passing down these skills so that the heritage may flourish with renewed vitality, making it a source of pride for the people of Changhua.
