Hsingwu District in Taoyuan City is a significant rice-producing area in northern Taiwan. During the Japanese colonial period, seven rice warehouses and a rice husk processing plant were constructed for grain storage. These warehouses were built using brick walls coated with a mixture of yellow mud slurry and lime plaster or cement mortar, featuring wooden beam-and-column structures suspended with bracket joints (dou-gong style), showcasing high historical, architectural, and cultural value. They embodied the wisdom of ancestors and represent precious relics from the Japanese era that have been well-preserved until today. In 2007, as part of the "Revitalization Plan for Utilizing Old Rice Warehouses as Display Spaces," the site was renovated into a "Rice Museum." The museum includes sections such as an Agricultural Products Fresh Supermarket, a National Agricultural Association Premium Store, a Rice Story Gallery, a Century Rice Milling Machinery Hall, and a Rice Cuisine Exhibition. This restoration not only imparts new life to these historic buildings but also serves as an educational and culturally significant tourist attraction.
