The Military Village Story House next to the Millennium Community on Guangfeng Road in Guishan District was originally the self-governing association office for the Luguang 3 Military Village in Guishan. This important venue for military village activities has been preserved by local residents as a place for emotional exchanges. In 2004, the Taoyuan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau registered it as a historical building named "Guishan Military Village Story House," becoming the sole preserved historical military village structure after the Luguang 3 Military Village was redeveloped. The story house focuses on preserving this special history of military villages, using individuals as its main focus with displayed objects as secondary. By analyzing culture, it guides visitors to understand the military village culture, hoping to reinterpret Guishan’s significant cultural development through historical retrospection. Therefore, the entire story house remains untouched from any demolition to preserve the original architectural features, instead creating a renewed cultural environment for military villages through added display materials. Internally, the exhibits include the field research materials about military villages collected in Guishan in recent years, presented through documentaries and audio boxes to deepen visitors' appreciation of authentic military village life. More uniquely, planners have designed foldable and movable "story boxes" to provide everyone and every family with personal exhibition space for their cherished stories. In addition to military village life exhibitions, the thematic areas offer many interactive games, allowing visitors to easily explore the wonders of military villages. Beyond its physical representation of military village culture, it hosts the "Military Village Cultural Festival" annually around October, featuring military village cuisine exhibitions, artifacts exhibitions, film retrospectives, group performances, garden parties, handicraft DIY, and story recordings, inviting diverse generations to experience the emotional connections of military villages. Just as we began to step into unfamiliar villages and recorded elders’ stories with paper and pens, our lives have unknowingly shared many common memories of life in Guishan, creating several new "homes" in Guishan. Now, the "Military Village Story House" is the warm home we found for elders’ life stories. We sincerely invite everyone to listen to the stories of Guishan and military villages, to share those stories with local people, outsiders, and future generations, ensuring the perpetual preservation of military village culture.
