澎湖縣望安鄉花嶼的山頂上
Simplified Chinese, Japanese, English, Korean, Hokkien: Flower Island is located northwest of Wang An Island, slightly south, making it the westernmost island of Penghu County and the furthest west in Taiwan, with a highest point of about 53 meters. The terrain of Flower Island is similar to other Penghu islands, but its geology is different: while other islands are primarily composed of basalt, Flower Island's rocks are mainly andesite, formed between 90 and 50 million years ago, making it the oldest island in the Penghu archipelago. Long-term weathering has carved various rock landscapes. During low tide, on the southeastern eroded reef of Flower Island, you can see the left foot of the legendary “Immortal's Footprint” on the sea cliff, echoing the right foot on the roof of Tian Tai Mountain on Wang An Island. The island also features other rock formations such as the Couple Stone (Love Stone), Stone Guanyin, Stone Monkey, Old Man Stone…etc. At the summit of Flower Island stands the Flower Island Lighthouse, a major landmark near the island. Built for military purposes during the Japanese era, it was completed in 1939 (Showa 14). The lighthouse is a white, round concrete structure with a height of 12.5 meters, making it the westernmost lighthouse in Taiwan. It currently houses a four‑order flashing light, flashing a white beam every five seconds with an intensity of 1,600 candela, and is unmanned (remote controlled).
