SHIHKAN T'ANG EXTERNAL APPEARANCE: Tower-type Total Height: 4.16M Circumference: 19.28M Construction Style: Conical tower with a gourd-shaped apex An-Te Sea Area is a popular location for intertidal activities and cliff fishing, and it serves as the mandatory route connecting Magong to Paseh and Hsi-yu. Centered primarily around the worship of Zhouwang Temple, the early land in Penghu was infertile, prompting the residents to add seashore sand to enrich the soil, enabling healthy crop growth. A stone tower was erected on the sandy ground locally known as Yuzaijiao as a marker to identify seawater levels for easier sand collection. This tower has stood firmly for many years, protecting the community. There is also a local legend claiming that if stones fall from the tower, it signifies someone in the village has died—an inauspicious omen. Later, to strengthen the structure, the tower was reinforced with cement around 1973 according to instructions granted by Lord Zhouwang. Source: Oral history of local elders in An-Te Village.
