Before the Huan Tan Highway was built, visiting the scenic sites of the Wenwu Temple required first taking a boat to the dock below the temple, then climbing a very steep set of stairs on foot, which was quite arduous. As a result, these stairs were historically known as the "Bridge to Heaven." After the Highway was completed, it no longer took such effort to visit the Wenwu Temple, and gradually, the stairs beneath the temple were forgotten. The management team restored the stairs, creating a 200-meter inclined path with 366 steps symbolizing 366 days in a leap year. Along the route, rest platforms were established at each day marking the first of every month, and information related to the traditional Chinese Twenty-Four Solar Terms inscribed on both sides of the stairs allows visitors to learn about Chinese traditional cultural and folk traditions while climbing step by step. As a result, these stairs are now referred to as the "Wenwu Temple Year Stairs" or the "Year Stair Trail." Walking the Year Stair Trail offers an interesting experience: each step is engraved with a specific date and the names of famous historical Chinese and international celebrities whose birthdays coincide with the same day. You are encouraged to search and see if your birthday matches that of any of these celebrities! Enjoy the fun while climbing—366 steps will no longer feel so tiring!
