澎湖縣馬公市介壽路7號
The Guanyin Pavilion is Penghu’s premier ancient shrine, located next to the Youth Activity Center. Standing in front of the temple, it offers a sweeping view of the western islet’s sunset, a view praised even in the 400‑year‑old Penghu Gazette as “the four sides are vast and the scenery is remarkably remote,” a testament to its status as the “splendid scenery of Xiying.” It is renowned for its “Guanyin Sunset.” The pavilion was first built in the 35th year of the Kangxi reign (1696) and is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. To its left is the famous Wangchao Pavilion. Together with the Dolphin Pavilion beneath Jiashou Pavilion and the Huai'en Pavilion opposite the sea bath, these four pavilions form the “Four Sea‑side Pavilions” of Xiying’s scenic spots. From Jiashou Pavilion one can overlook the western islet’s sunset; from Wangchao Pavilion, one can see the tides of the Taiwan Strait; the Dolphin Pavilion represents the dolphins that frequent Penghu’s coast, and Huai'en Pavilion commemorates former President Chiang Kai‑shek’s contributions. Below the Guanyin Pavilion, in a calm central sea area blocked by a seawall, there is a natural sea bath—a great spot for swimming and water play. The new waterfront recreation area, International Sailing Competition Center, children’s playground, bicycle and jogging track, basketball court, and skating rink have been built nearby, making it Penghu’s most beautiful landmark and an excellent venue for sports and leisure. It is the first choice for Magong residents to relax and exercise in the early morning and at dusk. Xiying Rainbow Bridge, the launch site for Penghu’s maritime fireworks festival, can be enjoyed at night by sitting on the shore near the Guanyin Pavilion and Dolphin Pavilion to admire the bridge’s luminous display paired with fireworks. **Recommended stay time:** 2 hours
