Hualien boasts two famed Jinzhen Mountains. The Sixty Stones Mountain in Fuli Township is one of them, renowned for its vast golden fields of golden needle flowers. Every August and September, as you meander along the serpentine mountain path, you’ll find the emerald hills and valleys adorned with waves of golden hues. From the summit, under the azure sky and drifting clouds, the vast and magnificent golden sea of flowers reveals its breathtaking beauty. Even outside the blooming season, one can wander freely through this expansive, picturesque landscape: undulating green fields occasionally dotted with red-tiled farmhouses, showcasing a charming rural scenery. Ascending to the凉亭 (cool pavilion) offers a panoramic view of the fertile paddy fields in the Hualien-Taitung longitudinal valley—a sight reminiscent of Switzerland—enhanced by the cool and pleasant mid-altitude climate, earning it the nickname "Little Switzerland of Taiwan." Visitors can enjoy this European-style serenity year-round, but if you wish to witness the golden expanse of golden needle flowers, make sure to visit during the right season!
