Golden Waterfall is located beside the Jinshui Highway in Shuinandong, Ruifang District, New Taipei City. From Dongding Road, turn onto Jinshui Highway; along the way, the stream banks are lined with rocks stained golden-yellow. Strolling gradually toward Golden Waterfall, the first sight is turbulent water rushing down over the gilded rocks. Like the Yin-Yang Sea, Golden Waterfall is another of nature’s exquisite masterpieces. Because Jiufen is rainy, the “pyrite minerals” in these ore deposits are exposed or washed by rainwater into the ground, then carried out by abundant water sources. As the water flows, the iron oxidizes, coating everything with a thick layer of rust-colored sediment, creating one of Jinguashi’s signature landscapes. Beside the waterfall rises Mt. Dajinkang, from which you can also gaze afar at the Yin-Yang Sea.
