As of June 5, 91, a comprehensive river closure was implemented from the Xindian Bridge to Dadongshi and its tributaries, covering a range of approximately 15 kilometers. During the closure period, all activities that harm the river ecosystem, such as fishing, catching fish and shrimp, using poison, and electric fishing, are prohibited. After over a year of effort, significant results have been achieved. The fish in the river are now large, plump, beautiful, and healthy, making it a treat for visitors. To provide a better fish-watching experience for locals and tourists while ensuring everyone's safety, Township Mayor Gu Yuan-yu strongly promoted and built a fish-watching trail. The goal is to allow nature lovers to observe the river's ecological beauty in a relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment. The trail enables visitors to appreciate the serene beauty of the river and its abundant fish population. The fish-watching trail runs along the Xindian Stream and starts from the Xindian Bridge, passing by the Siyuan Bridge. Visitors can take in the beautiful scenery and surroundings of the bridge. The trail then passes by the Shitan Junior High School, where one can hear the sound of students reciting under the guidance of Confucius' students. As visitors continue on the trail, they will arrive at the Riverside Park near the Yimin Temple and the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge. While there, it's a must to walk across the century-old Mingfeng Suspension Bridge, observe the large fish in the river, and explore the Lime Kiln. Afterward, follow the stream to the Shidong潭 and, if desired, take a jump into the water. Be cautious and aim carefully to avoid hitting or stepping on the fish. Alternatively, consider wearing a safety helmet for added protection. The fish-watching trail continues past the Provincial Highway 3 and back to the Xindian Bridge. From there, visitors can head to the Qingquan Farm in Dadaoshi for a visit or stop by the Township Restaurant to try the local specialty, black pearl stone fish, which is sure to become an addiction. Don't hesitate; come and visit our fish-watching trail today!
