The New Taipei City Yingge District has planned a total of eighteen hiking trails, suitable for people who love mountain hiking. The Second Pit Tunnel is located near the Ying Shi Pavilion on the Sun Long Trail, and was formerly a light rail route (coal transport railway) used to transport coal to and from the nearby Wuyi Coal Mine Second Pit, which has been closed for many years. This small tunnel is situated on a section of the light rail route that was originally a sharp bend. Later, related units took safety into consideration and cut through the bend to create this short tunnel. As the Second Pit Tunnel is the only small tunnel in the Yingge Mountain area, with a length of only about 10 meters and a width of only 5 meters, it is a relatively rare mini-tunnel, often attracting the curiosity of hikers who come to visit or take photos.
