The “Wangfu Stone” (望夫石) is a massive reef that plunges deep into the sea, located on a basalt outcrop southeast of the Qimei Lighthouse. After being eroded by seawater, its shape resembles a woman lying on her back on the ocean surface, hence its common name. There is a poignant legend associated with Wangfu Stone. A loving couple lived on the island; the husband went out to sea to fish and never returned. The wife, carrying a pregnant belly, plunged into the ocean. Over the years, the sea‑eroded rock on the shore miraculously formed a stone that looks like a pregnant woman, thus giving the rock its name. Visitors can sit in a pavilion overlooking the entire view of Wangfu Stone, or walk down the stone bridge into the sea and step onto the island of the stone, gazing at the Qimei Lighthouse at the southernmost tip of Penghu and the majestic columnar basalt coastline. The intertidal zone beside Wangfu Stone contains many small water hollows. During low tide, you can step into these hollows and see various marine creatures such as tropical fish, sea cucumbers, and crabs—like a small outdoor aquarium. **Recommended stay time:** 0.5 hour
