桃園市龍潭區龍元路45之31號
This weekend, come to the market to drink coffee, attend lectures, and take cooking classes! Walking along Lotus Pond Street's Xingchuang Base nearby Longtan Lake, vibrant painted lanterns bearing Longtan's landscapes hang overhead. The air is filled with the aroma of freshly baked cakes, punctuated by light music, making it hard to imagine that this place is the once-vacant 14-year-old "Longtan Old No. 1 Market Street." In 2016, a group of local young people from the 1970s and 1980s generations launched the "Resilience Market," integrating cultural creative booths and artistic performances with the aim of promoting Longtan's local culture. It sparked great discussion, eventually leading to the establishment of Xingchuang Base in 2017. The hub chose to locate itself at Longtan's most bustling area historically — the First Market — and named itself Lotus Pond after Longtan's former title. It gathered 20 locally based cultural creative brands, injecting unprecedented creative energy into Longtan. Now, the number of stores has grown close to 50, offering a diverse range of products and services from art studios, dried flowers, farm goods, picture book story nooks, desserts, and light meals — transforming cultural creativity into more than just abstract design but a way of life approaching beauty. Along Lotus Pond's hundreds of meters, everywhere demonstrates an exquisite blend of new and old; taste familiar yet surprising flavors in dishes like salted fish egg cake and apple salmon buns; join the all-age erhu workshop and experience traditional Chinese instruments playfully! Want to discover the secrets of traditional Hakka cuisine? There're cooking classes open to all. The lively past of the market is captured in hand-painted postcards. Pull a retro wooden door open and savor a hand-poured single-origin coffee. Tajoang Fort Story House is the most ideal space for family interaction — through picture books, hands-on workshops, understanding the history and culture of the old town. Expand your explorative journey and discover Lotus Pond Street's rebirth surprises.
