Under the banyan tree, the timeless old-fashioned taste
Wen Cheng shop has a history of more than seventy years. The founder – Mr. Zhan Wen Cheng – is originally from Beidou Township, Changhua, and everyone calls him “Uncle Beidou.” When he first started, “Uncle Beidou” carried a small load and sold meat dumplings and lamb soup under the large banyan tree at a crossroads.
From “Uncle Beidou” to today, the shop has been passed down through three generations, and for over seventy years it has sold only two items: meat dumplings and lamb soup. For an old shop, the owner stubbornly insists on the ancestral flavor, just like that large banyan tree that still stands firm, guarding the old-fashioned taste passed down from grandpa. Amid the aroma of meat dumplings and lamb soup, there is the owner’s warm hospitality and a strong sense of humanity.
