Crystal-clear waters and a thriving ecosystem—Taiwan’s newest reservoir, completed in 2015. Quiet lakeside trails create a green ecological corridor that introduces local hydraulic history and the story of the dam’s construction. On clear days, Qianshan Park and the observation deck offer sweeping views over the Douliu Plain all the way to the distant coastline. Hushan Reservoir is Yunlin County’s first reservoir and the nation’s first off-channel facility. Straddling Douliu City and Gukeng Township, it holds 52.18 million metric tons of water, ranking tenth among Taiwan’s reservoirs. Full construction was finished at the end of 2015; visits originally required reservations, but to meet local recreational demand it opened to the public in February 2018. The roughly three-kilometer route lets visitors savor the serene beauty of nature.
