Happy Farm, the Paradise on the Sea
Directly in front of the Lienchiang County Government, there is an uncommon flatland rare in the Matsu Islands. Rows of rectangular plots are filled with a diverse variety of vegetables. In the Matsu region characterized by its steep terrain and numerous slopes, the vibrant green fields stand out as an exceptional sight. Due to multiple landowners within the park area making consolidation difficult for commercial development, the county government arranged for the surrounding environment to be tidied and beautified, bestowing it with the striking name "Sanlorng Vegetable Park." This one-of-a-kind park in the world, located in a prime commercial area and centered around seasonal vegetables, was thus born.
Wandering along the walkways of the Vegetable Park, one is immersed in the rich fragrance of leafy greens and loamy soil. The crops on both sides are cultivated by local residents—Chinese kale, celery, spinach, water spinach, lettuce, Chinese chives, green onions—all of which are commonly consumed vegetables on Matsu. Nearly all are transported to the nearby Leo Market for sale, becoming a staple on Matsu households' dining tables.
