Nestled on the ridge line between Neimen in Kaohsiung and Zuoying in Tainan, the 308-High Ground derives its name from its 308-meter altitude. Locals affectionately know it as "Wanghao Liao" (which means "Looking Up at the Heights"), the highest point in the surrounding mountains and the perfect vantage for viewing the peculiar badland terrain. The badlands stretch across the low-lying hills of southern Taiwan, covering the rocky, barren shale region with jagged ridges and steep cliffs that resemble the moon's surface. Thus, the area is fondly referred to as the "Moon World." In addition to its renowned scenic restaurant, the 308-High Ground features a two-tiered observation platform. All around you, the landscape mirrors a lunar terrain, giving the illusion that you're strolling across the moon. On clear days, the panoramic view extends to the Chianan Plain and the Taiwan Strait, presenting a dazzling array of ever-changing scenery. At dusk, the breathtaking sight of the setting sun casting a golden glow over the hills leaves one feeling enchanted and reluctant to leave.
