The trailhead is located at the Smagkusk tribe, and the endpoint is at the Giant Tree Group. The Smagkusk Trail is flat and easy to navigate, with no particularly difficult sections. The steep slopes are short and make up a small portion of the trail (the 5km trail has an elevation difference of less than 100m). According to the 1996 ranking of the top 10 giant trees announced by the Forestry Bureau, the second and third largest giant trees are both located in the Smagkusk Giant Tree Area. These two giant trees are both Taiwan red cypress, and their trunks are so large that it takes more than 20 people to circle around them with their arms. The trail is rich in natural scenery and flora and fauna, and is also worth observing.
